Optiver Joins London Metal Exchange as Category 4 Member
Optiver, the Amsterdam-based global market maker, has been approved as a Category 4 member of the London Metal Exchange (LME). The firm, known for providing liquidity across derivatives, equities, ETFs, and currencies, is expected to bolster trading activity in the metals market.
Two senior Optiver executives—John Rothstein, COO, and Ed Sternberg, Head of Metals Trading—have joined key LME committees. Their appointments bring additional expertise to the exchange's strategic initiatives, particularly in electronic options development.
LME CEO Matthew Chamberlain welcomed the MOVE as an endorsement of the exchange's growth plans, noting Optiver's strong options trading capabilities will enhance market liquidity. The LME will announce Optiver's commencement date separately.
